The Haven Chamber of Commerce has announced the theme, dates and general schedule for the annual Fall Festival for 2007. “With five class reunions and an all school reunion being planned during the Fall Festival weekend, the Come Home to Haven 2007 theme is very appropriate”, stated Chamber President Charles Arndt. Saturday, October 13 is the date for this year’s event.
The Chamber of Commerce will kick off the festival on October 13 with their traditional annual pancake and sausage breakfast at the Senior Center beginning at 7 and running until 9:30. At 10, the day’s entertainment will begin from center stage and will feature local and regional entertainers. The kid’s rides will also be open at 10. The festival’s outstanding parade, one of the biggest in this area, will be at 1:30 and will feature the entertaining Shriners as well as local floats. Following the parade, the popular ping pong ball drop, sponsored by Dave Richardson Construction will be held. Haven Games are being expanded to include some wild and crazy things like bed races, man & wife wheel barrow races as well as the annual pie eating contests. In the evening, a street dance is scheduled as well as fireworks.
During the day, food vendors with a variety of favorite foods will be on hand. The Craft show, managed by Paula Scott of Scott Stuff Country Store will be downtown this year along Kansas Avenue and will feature approximately crafters from the area and region. An outstanding car show will be located one block west of the downtown intersection.
The Fall Festival is managed by the Chamber of Commerce and is a partnership with the City who provides funds and services for the event. Sponsors also play a big part in providing funds for the event and the Chamber is grateful for their support in the past and look forward to their participation this year as well. Additional information on this year will be published as plans are completed.
