Utilities
The City of Haven supplies electricity, water, sewer, and
refuse disposal service to all residents.
In order to open a utility account, the city requires each new customer making application for utility service to make a cash deposit in advance with the City Clerk in the amount equal to the expected average bill for a three month period or $250.00, which ever is the lower; except that for home owners the amount is equal to the expected average bill for a three month period or $150.00, which ever is the lower.
If the new utility customer can provide a letter of good credit from the previous electric utility service, indicating no more than one late charge in the last 12 months of service, no deposit will be required.
Should you experience a break in service,
call the city office, 465-3618. For problems after office
hours, call (620) 465-3881.
Gas service
is provided through KG&E, Kansas Gas Service of Newton
(800-794-5126).
Telephone service is provided through Sprint (800-788-3500)
Refuse
is collected on Mondays for residents on streets west
of Kansas Avenue,
on Sunset Lane, on Sedgwick Place,
on 8th Street, and for those with alley pickup just east
of Kansas Avenue. All other residents east of Kansas
Avenue have refuse service on Tuesday. An extra polycart
is available at a cost of $5.00 per month for a minimum
of three months. Extra pickups, at your request,
can be arranged and charged on a "per call" basis, depending
on the size of the pickup. A burn site is available
for city residents to haul tree limbs and clean lumber
only. This site is open each Wednesday from 1:00
to 8:00 p.m. and each Saturday from 10:00 to 6:00 p.m.
and is located one-quarter mile east of Haven Road on First
Street. |
