ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS
The Chamber sponsors the following activities and programs each
year:
" Haven Fall Festival held the second Saturday of October
" Annual fireworks sale with a portion of the funds used for
the Fall Festival
" Provides funds for specific community activities and programs
such as funding EMT equipment and activities of the PRIDE program
" In coordination with the City, acts as the economic development
planning and implementation organization for the community to include
supporting existing businesses, expanding current businesses and
recruitment of new businesses, community development programs and
promoting the community through specific publications
" Picnic's in the Park"
" Participates in regional and state economic development
activities
" Sponsors community programs such as the Christmas on the
Prairie Program, business appreciation and recognition dinners
" Provides scholarship funds for graduating seniors

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
PURPOSE:
To retain all current member
To recruit new members to the Chamber
EVENTS AND FUND RAISING COMMITTEE
PURPOSE: To develop Chamber events that either involve community
participation or raises funds for the Chamber or the specific program
being promoted

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
PURPOSE: To provide plans and programs which promote the growth
and wealth of the local Haven economy by retaining existing businesses,
attracting new businesses, assisting in providing necessary community
service facilities and promoting our community as the place you
want to live and have a business.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS:
" Research and Information Library
Research Library
Community Profile Program
Contact lists for economic development assistance
" Retention of Existing Businesses
Visits to all existing businesses
Identify needs and services that could be provided to retain businesses
Establish a business advisory counsel
" Recruitment and Attracting of New Businesses
Identify the types of businesses that best fit in Haven area
Promote the area as a place to locate your business
Coordinate with state Department of Commerce on promoting Haven
Participate in state and regional economic development programs
" Promotion and Marketing the Community
Develop brochures, pamphlets and other marketing materials
Participate in state programs and web sites that list available
sites
In cooperation with the city, develop a web site promoting Haven
COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE
PURPOSE: The community services program will focus on the needs
of the community to support the citizens and businesses in the community.
PROGRAM AREAS OF INTEREST
Housing: Be aware of housing programs that could benefit current
owners or new owners building a house in Haven. Coordinate with
economic development on procedures to obtain access to these programs.
Specific areas that could be addressed are:
(1) Research available housing assistance programs which can be
used in developing housing in Haven. Concentrate on affordable housing
units and not upper income housing for growth
(2) Investigate the possibilities of providing multi-family units
in Haven
HEALTH CARE: Be informed of possible services that could be provided
to local residents that are not currently being provided.
EMERGENCY SERVICES Specific areas of interested that could be addressed
are:
(1) In coordination with the City, continue to support fire protection
services and capabilities
(2) Retaining emergency medical services will remain extremely important
and every effort will be made to work with the city, county and
state to retain and improve the existing services in the community.
(3) Law enforcement and security, although a prime responsibility
of the City, is considered an essential element of any community.
The Chamber of Commerce will support all efforts to maintain an
adequate law enforcement capability within the community.
PARKS AND RECREATION: The Chamber of Commerce will work closely
with the City to identify programs to assist in maintaining, improving
or developing facilities and areas for recreation, as needed.
EDUCATION : The Chamber of Commerce will establish close liaison
and relationship with the local school district staff to insure
a quality education program is provided for the community.
